:: SCPH-7001 installation ::

Here are some very detailed instructions that have been designed to help you modify your Playstation as quickly as possible. In order to begin your modification you will need the following:

  • A soldering iron with a fine tip and solder (we send you super thin solder, use it!)
  • A philips head screwdriver

Now that we have the materials we are ready to modify the Playstation!

-
Stage 1:
Go to a clean work area and heat up your soldering iron. Mark on a piece of paper 4 sections for the screws A,B,C,D.
-
Stage 2:

Turn over the playstation and remove the 6 screws from the base as illustrated by figure 1. Place the 6 screws on the screw sheet in section A. Turn the system back over and remove the top cover.

-
Stage 3:-

Removal of the cables and laser housing unit:

  1. Remove the connectors at the locations shown in figure 2. There are four of them and each require a little tug.
  2. To remove the copper colored connector from YOU MUST pull firmly while holding the white papered area.

3. After the connectors have been moved. Remove the laser housing unit.

-
Stage 4:

Remove the four screws from the metal bracket in figure 3 and place them in location B on the screw sheet. Now remove the metal bracket and again put it into a safe but close place. This will expose the whole circuit board. We’re almost there…

-
WE ARE NOW READY TO INSTALL THE MOD CHIP

Now look at the circuit board diagram in figure 5 and determine the part of the diagram that the figure corresponds to. Now… There are 8 points to solder your wires to. Make Sure to leave the cover on the chip as it isolates it from the board.
(no orange wire /pin 2 required on elite chips)

Below is a picture of what you should be looking for..

Now all we have to do is solder the wires to the system board.

**Trim the wires, make the pre stripped end smaller in length then the location your soldering to on the board. Now add a small amount of solder to spots your going to be soldering to, just heat up that spot and add a SMALL amount of solder. After doing this to all spots wires will be soldered to, one at a time place each wire on top of those spots and heat them up on the board so they attach to the correct locations. Thats it your done, no need to mount the chip, just make sure its flat against the board.
