How-To-Install The New Wii Mod Chip

Before disassembling your Wii unit be sure to have a clean, well-lit work area with storage containers for loose parts. You will require a 15 watt pencil tip soldering iron, a Philips and Tri Wing head screwdriver, electrical tape to secure the chip to the Wii Drive.

Step 1 Using your Philips Screwdriver remove the battery cover	Step 2 Remove the battery and cover and put it off to the side.
Step 3 Remove the three small Phillips screws that hold the Wii's black Game Cube controller and memory card port cover.	Step 4 Once you remove the black GameCube port cover, you'll find a mix of Tri-wing and Phillips screws that need to be removed.

Step 5 Remove the stickers on each end of the face panel	Step 6 Remove the 2 Tri-wing screws, that secure the Wii's front panel.
Step 7 Remove the stickers on the screw hidden on the side and remove the Tri-wing screw	Step 8 Remove the stickers on the screw hidden on the back and remove the Tri-wing screw

With the side and face plate screws removed, you can gently detach the face plate from the Wii.

Step 9 Gently detach and remove the face plate.	Step 10 With the face plate removed, you can remove the remaining two Tri-wing screws that secure the Wii's plastic case. These are found under the two rubber pads near the back of the Wii's bottom shell
Step 11 Top cover removed	Step 12 Remove the screws holding down the metal shield and you will see the Wii's optical drive, wireless two wireless antenna, cooling fan, and air intake cover.

The optical drive is connected to the main PCB by a thin ribbon cable and larger power cable. By disconnecting the power cable you can lift the drive and set the drive flat.

Now you can run the config disk and set drive speed to 3X for best results and best loading - if the setup disk does not run you have installed your chip wrong.

Set up disk can be selected using the reset button, simply press once to toggle and hold to select.

Then switch the drive speed to 3x in config settings (you will actually get faster smoother and quieter loading on dvdr media ) then save settings - now all games will load perfectly!

If your machine is already at 3.0u you will need to boot the setup disk with this BOOT DISK

ALSO download the Setupdisk v3.0 only then switch the drive speed to 3x in config settings (you will actually get faster smoother and quieter loading on dvdr media )

the boot disk requires a standard controller to operate however the set up disk can be selected using the reset button, simply press once to toggle and hold to select.

CAUTION:We find the easiest method to solder the chip is to simply place the chip on the area it needs to be soldered. Then solder the 2 bigger holes then a a little solder to the each of the 4 smaller connections on the boar and the chip. Now simply heat the solder on the chip and bring the wire to the solder heating the wire up then moving the end of the wire to touch the connection on the board. Then simply remove heat and let wire cool and cut off the extra wire, then repeat for the other connections. Trying to bridge the solder from the chip to the board without the use of the wir could damage your board.

Wii system with cut legs has surfaced . The install is still possible however use of a dremal tool is required -
